June Stitching - In and Out stitch
Welcome to June!
A new stitch brings a new yarn and this month I have used a typically Autumnal tone considering it is now officially Winter!
This beautifully textured stitch is such a simple one, and the only stitch/es you need to know are the chain stitch for your foundation chain and a single crochet.
Alternating crocheting in the back loop only and then in both loops will produce this lovely texture - so simple!
As usual I have made up this small swatch which I typically use for washcloths - I have used YARN & COLORS EPIC 100% COTTON in AUTUMN and a 4mm Clover Amour hook.
I have tight tension so you most definitely could use a 4.5mm or 5mm hook if you also have tight tension.
Let's begin by chaining an even number of stitches plus one chain for turning.
TIP* you may want to use a larger hook size to make your chain if you have tight tension - this will prevent your project having a tight or shorter edge!
Turn and single crochet in the second chain from the hook, and all the way along. Chain 1 and turn.
Single crochet in the first stitch in both loops, in the next stitch single crochet in the back loop only. Repeat this pattern, *SC in both loops, SC in BLO until the the end, you should end with a SC in the BLO. Chain1 and turn.
Start every row with your SC in both loops and the texture will start to emerge!
You may finish off with a solid row of SC if you wish!
I hope you all enjoy giving this fantastic stitch a try - until July, keep warm and enjoy your chosen craft of choice.
HAPPY CRAFTING,
AMANDA XX
